Welcome to St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope Regional School

November 2018

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love is everlasting.
                                                                                                Psalm 118:1

Dear Families,

This is the time of year when we as a nation give thanks to God for all the blessings that have been given to us.  As school children, we learn about the first Thanksgiving in 1621 when the Pilgrims and “Indians” shared a meal.  History tells us that the celebration went on for three days, and the menu featured venison and wild turkeys. It wasn’t until 1863 that President Abraham Lincoln proclaiming Thanksgiving a national holiday on the final Thursday of November.

Giving thanks to God in times of plenty has ancient origins, going back to the Jewish harvest festival of Sukkot.  Our Judeo-Christian tradition teaches us that everything we have is a gift from God.  We are called to use them wisely – to give glory to God by our lives, to serve our brothers and sisters, and to help build the Kingdom of God here and now.

This Thanksgiving season, we will serve our brothers and sisters in need by supporting the work of the Parish Outreach Food Pantry.  We are collecting food items and cash donations to purchase turkeys for Thanksgiving baskets.  We also will host our 26th Thanksgiving liturgy and luncheon to thank the senior citizens in our families and community.  Information about these and other events can be found in the What’s New section below.

Yours truly,
Paul Clagnaz
Proud Principal
